On September 24, 2019, a simple yet grand celebration ceremony was held at Italian General Consulate Guangzhou. At the center of the event are Ms. Margot Song, CEO of EnviroVest Industry Group (“EnviroVest”), and Mr. Alessandro Durante, Director of External and International Relations of Federation of the Italian Associations of Mechanical and Engineering Industries (“ANIMA”). A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the two parties during the ceremony, witnessed by Ms. Lucia Pasqualini, Italian general consul in Guangzhou, and Ms. Cecilia Costantino, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Commission Guangzhou office. The signing of the MOU marks the birth of EU Green Economy Confederation (GEC), an industry group co-founded and chaired by EnviroVest and ANIMA.

As Italy became the first G7 member to sign an MOU on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Sino-Italian cooperation has entered a new era, marked by extensive opportunities. The governments of both countries expressed high expectations in seeking cooperation in technology, industry, capital and other fields of common interests. Driven by such tailwind, EnviroVest and ANIMA initiated EU Green Economy Confederation, an industry group aimed to join efforts in promoting the environmental services businesses of the two countries.

GEC strives to introduce Italian advanced manufacturing and ecological sustainable technologies and systems to China, such as "Made in Italy" new materials, high-end fine chemical technologies, and industrial pollution control technology, tools and measures, in an effort to drive the upgrade and transformation of traditional industries as well as environmental services industry in China, and to provide Italian enterprises with broader opportunities in the Chinese market.

"This will prove to be the beginning of a great and successful collaboration," the two sides said in a statement after signing the MOU. "We aim to achieve synergies in environmental and other industrial areas, and to seek and explore broader market opportunities."
